How was His gift given? Pastor Dan Stewart from Woodside Bible Church in Algonac answers this question. Watch or read below what Pastor Dan says to discover another important insight on Christmas.
Hello friends. My name is Dan Stewart, pastor of Woodside Bible Church in Algonac. I hope you have visited the Nativity on the waterfront. If you did, maybe you saw the question:
“How was His gift given?”
The Gift of Christmas is GOD WITH US. Our greatest need is having a personal relationship with our Creator. And he met that need when He literally moved heaven and earth and sent His Son to our world. On Christmas day, we remember how Jesus did not cling to the splendor of heaven. But he became human and came to live in our world that is full of pain, hate, brokenness, and death. In a mind-blowing way that fulfilled dozens of ancient prophecies, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born in Bethlehem, to a poor carpenter-- descendant of King David, announced by angels and a star, worshipped by shepherds and the wisemen. And even though our Nativity scenes today have polished away some of the heartaches and fears of that birth, the coming of Jesus truly is the most beautiful gift we could ever receive. Though there was no room for Joseph and Mary in the inn, I hope we EACH make room in our hearts for Him today.
Jesus would live an incredible life, teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, raising the dead. But people rejected him, executed him by nailing him to a cross. But after three days, he rose from the dead proving that he truly is the Son of God and providing eternal life to all who would believe in him.
My question to you is this: Have you accepted God’s gift to you? This beautiful gift has no benefit unless you do. Jesus had said, "whoever has the Son has life, but whoever does not have the Son does not have life” (1 John 5:12). We receive God’s gift of forgiveness and eternal life when we place our faith in Jesus as the way to the Father.
Won’t you invite Jesus into your life right now? In the quietness of your heart, just tell him
“Father, I believe you sent Jesus so I can know you. I believe that he died and rose again in payment for my sins. I turn from my sin and come to you for forgiveness. Thank you for washing away my sins and making me your child. Help me to live for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
I hope you enjoy the true meaning of Christmas all year long! Merry Christmas!
